Reduce
When buying something new, the main question you should ask yourself is: "Do I REALLY need this?" In many cases we have a similar product at home that we could still use. Also, keep an eye on the packaging. Usually, the less the better. Buy your products in bulk.
Reuse
Buy reusable items from the very beginning. Nice side effect: you save money. For example, updating your software instead of buying new hardware. Or taking food in jars actually makes it easier because you don't have to worry about where to put the packaging afterwards.
Recycle
To recycle means putting an item to a new use instead of throwing it away. Try to recycle your items yourself or have them recycled. For Tibetans residing in McLeod Ganj, our Green Workers come door to door every day and collect recyclable waste for proper processing.

Every month we organize various events like Plantations, Clean-ups or Climate Strikes. Mostly we team up with other organisations and volunteers. Together, we clean up illegal dumpsites all over Dharamshala to show its most beautiful side.

School Teachings
We continously give lessons about rensponsible waste management in Tibetan and Indian schools. Not only in McLeod Ganj but also in surrounding regions to raise awareness from an early age.

In our Paper Recycle Factory we recycle all the paper waste collected by our Green Workers. The recycled paper is then turned into beautiful environmentally friendly artworks by our artisans and sold both in the Green Shop in McLeod Ganj.
